I'm terrified of getting burned by this fire twice
I stand as close as I can cus your warmth feel real nice
When the rains start to pour, oh it never pour down lite
Then I watch in an instant your flames dim, in spite
of the fact that I'm trying
Despite the fact I'm done lieing
Despite the truth that I loved you once
And the fact that's the only thing I never did fight
They say every door has a handle
They say that mine is especially hard to grip
and if you looked twice you'd see I can stand all
of this firey mist.
Yeah every door has a handle,
every handle has a lock,
every lock needs a key, babe
This is where the truth starts to slip.
That it's you, and your fingers fit perfectly between mine
Oh it's you who took this stone heart and melted it til it was no longer submerged in ice.
They say my element is hostile
They blame 1/2 my childhood being a lie.
But that's only when they're being generious
Other wise they claim it's simply me and the plank in my eye
I stand firm in the oceans
Let it scream out it's best.
Then by morning still and silent
I've put it to rest.
Cus the sea is an alias and analogy of me
Always prone to be raging when your rain clouds are seen.
Mirrors and reflections, I turn away from all of those
The things that are truthful, the things that expose
You're firey hands take my sand and turn it to glass.
to see straight through my forgotten past.
to the recesses of time, where I lost my mind.
I turn away from all forms of joy dear
Except for you love
You're exactly what you seem.
You've always been to real to be something that I could just dream.

Sparrow
I looked out the windows as we passed baren fields.
Who'd just offered up all the grain that they could yeild.
The sun was setting behind te silos high.
When in one moment a sparrow caught my eye.
She soared through the wind like freedom was her name
But the flaps of her wings told my heart that she had know great pain
Enamered by beauty still from far away I could see
She was as lonely as I imagine a fallen star to be.
A lonely traveler over open feilds will nothing to give, cus they offered all that they could yeild
I am a passer with no right to stay and fly over feilds in the end of the day
And I imagine my thoughts are much like hers
far bellow the windy curves
Flying in one place
it might look like you don't go far.
But in her hear she has seen the stars and known them all by first names
They greet her with majestic grace
Sparrow flyin'
a traveler with no shoes
Fallin' star
I would've stayed with you
and flown a world that had nothing to give
Cus it has offered it's all
and still on we'd live.
Soaring sparrow flyin' high
Nothing more celestial has ever caught my eye.
Who'd just offered up all the grain that they could yeild.
The sun was setting behind te silos high.
When in one moment a sparrow caught my eye.
She soared through the wind like freedom was her name
But the flaps of her wings told my heart that she had know great pain

You the feeling when you're where you shouldn't be?
I know it very well inside my dreams.
When faces look with such distain,
it's so distracting I forget my name.
And where I'm from, and how to breathe
I cease to remember I am a key
not the lock,
solitary and still,
I am a traveling key with a heart of will,
To journey far from what I've known,
past the pound of the skipping stones.
Through the forest for the trees,
far from where you know me.
This sparrow ventures far,
but she always comes back.
Plain as day, with eyes of the blackest black.
I travel far so I can truly see,
what it was I was hiding with lock, to make me a key.
I know it very well inside my dreams.
When faces look with such distain,
it's so distracting I forget my name.
And where I'm from, and how to breathe
I cease to remember I am a key
not the lock,
solitary and still,
I am a traveling key with a heart of will,
To journey far from what I've known,
past the pound of the skipping stones.
Through the forest for the trees,
far from where you know me.
This sparrow ventures far,
but she always comes back.
Plain as day, with eyes of the blackest black.
I travel far so I can truly see,
what it was I was hiding with lock, to make me a key.
